I Have-To-Do Syndrome

Do you have this syndrome? It can be what’s holding you back from being healthy and happy. Most likely it is effecting your life in a not so positive way. I hear so many people telling me how much they have to do for the holidays.
“I have to go to a work holiday party.”
“I have to make gingerbread houses in my child’s classroom.”
“I have to buy something for my sister’s husband.”
“I have to get my holiday cards out by 12/25.”
“I have to find the perfect gift for my spouse.”
“I have to buy a bunch of gift cards.’
“I have to wrap all my presents.”
“I have to cook so much food.”
“I have to bake cookies.”
“I have to ….”
“I have to…”
Etc…Etc…Etc…
Does all of that sound familiar?

DAY 2 
On the second day of wellness that LisaFIT gave to me – (sing to the tune of “First day of Christmas…, don’t make me sing it for you.)
CROSS TWO THINGS OF MY HAVE-TO-DO LIST
So here we have it. Get a piece of paper and pen out. Draw a big square. Then divide the square into four boxes creating a grid. Draw an arrow along the left side of the box and along the bottom. Write on the vertical arrow, “EFFORT” and on the horizontal arrow, “REWARD”. I want you to write all of your “have-to-do” things in one of those four boxes. For instance, “I have to wrap all my presents.” For me that would go in the box that is low effort because it’s pretty easy for me and high reward because I like being creative. Get through all of your items. If there is box filled with too many things then get rid of two. Pay close attention to what is in your high effort low reward box. If you are struggling with a lot of those let’s chat about it. Your efforts can be rewarding – perhaps there is a way to tweek it.
(If for some reason you cannot figure out how to create this friggin grid or what the heck I am talking about so now you have balled up several pieces of paper and your frustrated – Monday I will post a “How to” video just for the grumpy boogers out there.)
