I am just coming off of seven weeks of no running because of Achilles (back of ankle) sharp pain. Four weeks of not wearing socks and athletic shoes. The pain has subsided enough for me to do 10 minute runs at a 12min mile pace.
I rested. I stretched. I foam rolled. I got acupuncture, massage and chiropractic care.
Now I am doing one legged squats to build back the ankle stability. I have even started one leg assisted jumps. The ankle is weak but no pain. I am aggressively foam rolling and it is PAINFUL but its a good pain. I take the foam rolling pain over my injury pain any day. This pain is a good pain. It’s breaking up adhesions. It is releasing tightness in areas that cannot be stretched.
