The empty freeway on my drive today reminds me that it is Memorial Day. I think about all the men and women who died for our country. Why did they do it? Why did they risk their lives? Why did they leave their families? Why did they choose the military?
I won’t know the answers to those questions but those women and men do. They know why. I may not understand. I may not agree. I might even challenge their reasoning but I must respect their choices and honor them for their sacrifice.
I struggle with the word, “why”. I ask my clients –
“Why did you eat that?”
“Why didn’t you exercise?”
“Why haven’t you filled out your Fitness Journal?”
Clients invest a lot of time and money training with me. Sometimes I don’t understand why they do what they do. A lot of times they don’t even know why. Bottom line, we have to own our actions and words. If you don’t know why you are doing or saying something then don’t do it. If your actions or words don’t support your goals then don’t do it.
Why do I do it?
